Valerie Parker Henry, M.A.
Artistic Director/Choreographer/Educator
Ms. Henry has spent over 30 years in ministry performing, choreographing, and teaching in the United States, Australia, Russia, Ukraine, France, and many other nations of the world. For 17 years, a significant part of her artistic work was as a soloist and main choreographer for the international dance company Tabernacle, based in Jerusalem, Israel. The company performed for eight nights annually at the Jerusalem Convention Center during The Christian Celebration of the Feast of Tabernacles. Tabernacle also toured internationally to Australia, Singapore, Figi, Russia, and the Ukraine for benevolent causes. Under Ms. Henry's direction Tabernacle II was eventually developed for apprentice dancers.
At The Wesley Institute in Australia, Ms. Henry performed and taught in Melbourne, Sydney, and Tasmania. She also danced and choreographed in Israel's Jubliee celebration at The Sydney Opera House. All of her dance works though diverse in style, have been based in worship, scripture, and intercession.
Ms. Henry's interdenominational dance ministry, although global in reach, has always been connected to the local community. For 14 years she developed a multi-generational dance ministry near her home at the Church of the Good Samaritan in Paoli, PA where she met and collaborated often with organist/choir director Kerry Baumont.
Currently, Ms. Henry is performing and teaching in Canada, Israel (Christ Church Jerusalem), and in the USA. She often serves as a guest artist or adjunct professor while maintaining her own studio Dance Discovery and performing ensemble Dance Mosaic.
Often a guest lecturer, she was asked to present at Franklin & Marshall College on “Writing Dance” and at the Humphrey-Weidman School of Modern Dance. From a Labanotation score, Ms. Henry reconstructed the classic modern dance Brahms Waltzes by Charles Weidman at Belhaven University. Ms. Henry is on staff at The Tabernacle Church in Laurel, MD; a multicultural church where she mentors, teaches all ages, performs, and choreographs.
